Small tribute Kobe Bryant on Eenhoornsluis

A year after the death of basketball star Kobe Bryant, street artist Streetart Frankey has placed a small tribute to him in our city. It involves a puppet of Bryant dunking a heart into the barrel of a cannon on De Eenhoornsluis. Byrant died in a helicopter crash in California last year, as were eight other passengers on that helicopter, including Bryant’s daughter Gianna. Bryant played his entire professional career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Streetart Frankey about his artwork: ‘In his signature Los Angeles Lakers uniform, the American basketball player shoots a heart down the barrel of the cannon at Eenhoornsluis in Amsterdam. Floating, this gives him infinite hang time.’

Artist Streetart Frankey is known for many street art pieces he places around the city. For example, he made a Lego version of André Hazes and placed that sculpture on Dam Square.
